FIELD
INFORMATION:
Still no word from the Mayor and Council regarding soccer in Irondale.
The
city had given JPK to Shades Valley, and the board of education has closed their
deal on all the property at Grantswood, leaving Irondale with no soccer
facility. We have gone from 2 to 1 to none. The Mayor has said that Dr. Hammonds will agree to lease the city's former
facility back to it, but as yet there is no word on an agreement. Grantswood, in
its present configuration, is too small to accommodate Irondale's existing soccer
program without another full-size field. No recommendation has been given to the council
as yet for another field.
We are rapidly running out of time!
13 weeks and counting to have
a facility ready by
the Fall '08 Soccer Season as of 5/05!

The Alabama Sports Festival will be
held in B'ham again this year. The club will help by subsidizing tournament
fees for any U12 & up teams that want to play. The dates are June 20-22,
with early registration deadline of May 9. Late registration is +$75. You
can make changes to your existing roster.

NOTE: There has been some confusion,
intentionally so, with regard to the league with which
we are affiliated, and its name. Birmingham
Southeastern Soccer League broke ties with AYSA in the
Fall of 1997, becoming an "independent"
soccer league. In the Fall of 1999 the BSSL changed
its name to the Central Alabama Independent Soccer
League or CAISL. In the Fall of 2005 the state soccer
association decided to call its newly formed
"league" Central Alabama Soccer League or
CASL, thus intentionally generating the confusion.
That's unfortunate for a lot of soccer folks, but it's
simple to keep it straight. We play with the
"independent" league.
Anyone wishing to become a CAISL referee
should contact
the league office at 957-1191.
